Tuesday, November 24th 2009: Day 6

When I checked on everybody today, one egg was a bright orange/yellow color, I'm not sure if he's dead or not, I suppose we'll find out in a couple of days. I took a couple of pictures today, too. The best ones are posted to the left and below. Temp: 47.8 F degrees

As you can see if you look in the upper middle area of this photo there is a slightly off color egg which I noted above in the blog. If you look closely you can see the the black specks (the eyes) on the fish eggs

This is the 50 Gallon aquarium we used for the salmon. We placed a few big rocks in there for the fish to hide under. For the first couple of weeks we used a fish hatchery basket to allow for easy access to the fish while they hatched out. Easy access to the eggs is more convenient for removal of egg shells and dead eggs. and it also ensures that nothing goes unnoticed, it is easy to spot eggs that need to be removed. This method really has worked well for us. When almost all of the fish ware hatched we will released them from the fish hatchery into the rest of the tank and they will have more room to swim around.

This is another photo of the aquarium, as you can see there is a fence around the fish tank, this is to keep the public spaced a little ways away from the aquarium to prevent them from disturbing the project. The public is still able to see the fish while the fish still remain safe from the public.
