The aquarium was set up today, the water temperature was adjusted to maintain a constant temperature of 50 degrees Fahrenheit, the filter was hooked up and test run to make sure it was working correctly, and the air-bubbler was hooked up as well to make sure it was working properly. Setting up the aquarium before the fish arrive is a critical step to keep your survival rate high because if something is not running properly you can catch it before the fish eggs are placed in the aquarium. If the water quality is bad from the start or if your filter/bubbler or temperature controller is not working, and you're fish eggs arrive, they most likely will not survive. This is because salmon are very sensitive to changes in temperature or water quality if the maintenance system fails, a lot of problems could result. The expected arrival date for our fish eggs is exactly one week from today, this will give us time to ensure that our maintenance system is reliable. As of now, the system is proving to be very efficient.
