January 26th 2010: Day 69

Temperature (F Degrees): 48.2
Number of Fish Removed: 3
Lost three fish today, eight are lying on the bottom of the aquarium, three more are swimming upside down and in circles. It has been about 3 weeks since the fish officially started eating (ten of them anyways). Considering that it took about a week for the majority of the fish to make the transition to solid foods, I think I should probably begin to switch them over to the next food either today or tomorrow. It is also time to begin doing one gallon switches everyday. Today the total population of surviving king salmon in the tank is 142 fish. We have lost 58 fish so far since the beginning of the project. This is approximately a 29% total loss which would put our survival rate at 71%. The fish have a silver belly and lower half of the body. their fins are much more spread out and wider now. The coloring on the top (dorsal) half of their body has an olive green base color with black to dark gray circular spots. Their sides have vertical oval stripes that run like par marks along their side. Their head is now proportionate to their body size and they are approximately an inch and a half in length.
