The librarian fed the fish once on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. When I came in today there were twelve dead fish and the water was looking a bit cloudy. I checked the water quality and everything came up alright. After removing the dead fish I went through and cleaned all the left over food off the bottom of the tank along with some fish droppings that the filter was not able to suck up. The pump had a lot of food and droppings on it, so I unplugged the filter and took the spongy part of the filter off and rinsed it in warm water to clean it off. There were a couple more fish looking weak today, hopefully we will reach a point soon where this mortality rate slows down! I fed everyone at 11:00am, 3:30pm, and they were fed again at 6:30pm. I changed the water today and cleaned the tank as best I could. In order to make cleaning easier, I removed three of the big rocks that were in the middle of the tank. Starting in the next week, I will be switching over to a one gallon changed every day. This will help to keep the tank cleaner, since the fish are eating and going to the bathroom a lot more the water is going to get dirtier faster. The fish who have been eating have grown a lot! Some of them are starting to get potbellies! I wonder if they are being fed a little too much at their feedings. Or, maybe they are being fed just enough and their size is normal, I don't really know. In the next week or two I'm going to need to switch the food size. Over the weekend the air bubbler detached and the librarian's husband fixed it up. I'm so glad someone was around to take care of that, it could have ended up badly if nobody had been around to fix it.
