Friday, December 11th 2009: Day 23

Temperature: 47.6 F degrees
pH: 7.6

Nitrate (NO3), Nitrite (NO2) & Ammonia levels: 0ppm (mg/L)
Number of eggs removed: 2 sac fries

Ran water quality tests today, all is well. Removed TWO sac fries who got caught in the water bubbler some how. I took a few pictures and videos of the fish who remain, unfortunately the lighting is not as good now that they are out of the net, so good pictures are harder to come by. The sac fries seem more energetic today than they were before. Some are becoming strong swimmers, about ten of them are now able to hover or swim about an inch off the bottom for small intervals of time, some of them can do this for a minute at a time! They are definitely all getting bigger and their food sacs are beginning to slowly disappear.

A small group of the sac fries liked to hud
dle together near the bubbler the day after release as seen in the pictures to the left. In the last couple pictures you can see the other sac fries which seem to prefer hiding close to the rocks and the water pump, I think the shadier areas make them feel more secure and protected.
